Allen Lavee - Watercolors
"I have had a lifelong interest and connection with figure drawing. I am drawn to the immediacy and spontaneity of watercolor and with ink, and I like the characteristic that such works are completed in one session. They often do not lend themselves to reworking.
The ink, pencil, and watercolor nudes are works from a live model, and I rarely revise them once the pose has ended. Negative spaces are as captivating and important as the obvious subject, and I am interested in defining the flow and play of the light in the room and on the model. I am especially attempting to convey the energy of the model's pose, as well as placing her in the context of the surrounding environment."
