Marvin Burke
I have had a life long interest in art. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan I studied Art History and the Theory of Aesthetics. I began my photographic career as a commercial photographer. Primarily I photographed men's fashion. During the 15 years I spent at this I learned about cameras, equipment, lighting, color and accurate reproduction. I also kept thinking about pure expression as a Fine Art Photographer. I finally began the move about 5 years ago by entering competitions.
Since I began competing, I've achieved some success:
2 Best of Shows (2010 & 2012) at the Marin County Fair
2 First Place and 1 Second Place (2011 &2013) at the Napa County Fair
I've also exhibited at the Triton Museum (2011, 2013, 2014) and the Pacific Art League (2011)
My photographs are moments in nature that I found inspiring. Each of them is intended to show the beauty and our connection to our living planet. The beauty is derived from the forms and colors of the scene. When formal composition doesn't work I try to make the beauty of the image mostly about color. Meaning is personal. Each photo has its own story. Hopefully you can connect with them. Thus I leave the meaning of each to the eye of the beholder. "
