Zero One: Between Absence and Presence
Anya Zelenkova is an experimental photographer who studied alternative photo processes in New York City. Inspired by water and light, she now explores the Northern California landscape creating cinematic imagery.
Zero One is a series of photographs that illustrate Anya’s playful philosophical quest to explore the duality of everything in life. Duality teaches us that every aspect of life is created from a balanced interaction of opposite yet complementary forces. The visual aesthetics of Zero One is a re-imagination of submerging into the water and seeing both over and under the surface at the same time. Images are created using reflective objects as lenses to pick up two planes of view and create a single image in the camera. The elusive in-between worlds of Zero One are purely fictional.
