After 200 Episodes, Bill Arney’s “Cheese Theatre” Still Looks Sharp
Becoming a member of the Community Media Center of Marin in 2011, Arney was encouraged to host his own show. Eight years later, on May 12, 2018, Marin TV will air the 200th episode of Arney’s own Saturday night treat, “Cheese Theatre.”
Arney thinks of “Cheese Theatre” as a tongue-in-cheek version of Turner Classic Movies. “It's the commentary that makes a show like this unique,” he says. “Who would watch TCM without the intro and closing remarks by the host? As he reflects on producing and hosting 200 episodes, Arney admits, “I did not expect to get this far.“ Originally, I hoped to make it five years. Now that we are finishing up Season 8, I feel like it could go on forever. The only limitation is movie availability, but it seems there are plenty of them out there, waiting to be rediscovered.” It would seem “Cheese Theatre” is aging well.
